College Salary Cap

Kalen Ballage (R / Arizona St.)

Kalen Ballage will return to Arizona State for his senior season, Jeff Metcalfe of AZCentral reports.

According to Metcalf, Ballage mulled over his draft stock before ultimately opting to return to Tempe for his senior year. Ballage made early season headlines from his 13-carry, 137-yard outing against Texas Tech in which he scored a whopping eight total touchdowns (seven rushing). However, his output was inconsistent the rest of the season as he failed to reach the 100-yard mark in any other game and he had just two more outings with more than 4.0-plus YPC. While shelf life is a concern for running back prospects, Ballage's relatively light workload (251 combined carries in the last two seasons) lessens the worry of him not having enough tread on the tires when he does declare for the draft.

Kalen Ballage carried 15 times for 46 yards and a touchdown, pulled in seven catches totaling 118 yards and combined for 80 additional yards on four kickoff returns Thursday as Arizona State fell to Utah 49-26 at home in Tempe.

Ballage posted his second consecutive outing with 200+ all-purpose yardage on Thursday night, logging 244 total yards on a career-high 118 receiving, 46 rushing and 80 returning. The junior also recorded his 13th rushing touchdown of the year in the defeat, the eight-highest single season total in school history. The 6-3, 230-pound tailback continues to thrive in place of the injured Demario Richard, but could find his recent run of success come to an end in Week 12 as the Sun Devils travel to Seattle to face-off against the top defensive unit in the conference.

Kalen Ballage carried 18 times for 62 yards and two touchdowns, pulled in six catches totaling 105 yards, threw two passes for 27 yards and a third score and returned four kickoffs for 96 additional yards Saturday as Arizona State fell to Oreogn 54-35 on the road in Eugene.

With Demario Richard sitting out Saturday's contest with an undisclosed injury and Arizona State forced to start a true freshman at quarterback, Ballage became the face of the Sun Devils offense against Oregon, combining for a career-best 263 all-purpose yards and accounting for three of ASU's five scores on the day. The junior subsequently exits Week Nine currently ranked No. 8 in the Pac-12 for all-purpose yards per contest (115.4) and having accounted for a conference-best 13 touchdowns to date. Ballage now enjoys an extended rest before his team's next game, a Nov. 10 matchup with Utah, but could find his workload diminished to a noticeable extent should Richard be able to return to service against the Utes.

Kalen Ballage carried 12 times for 82 yards and a touchdown and added a single reception totaling eight yards to his overall numbers Saturday as Arizona State fell to Washington State 37-32 at home in Tempe.

Ballage on Saturday notched his second-best yard-per-carry average of 2016 to both finish Arizona State's top rusher against Washington State and tally his best overall yardage output on the ground since a Sept. 10 win over Texas Tech. The junior also eclipsed double-digit carries for the just the second time in five appearances and reached the end zone against a conference opponent for the first time this year in the victory. The 6-3, 230-pounder heads into Week Nine still well over 100 yards behind leading rusher for the Sun Devils, Demario Richard, yet superior to Richard when it comes to all-purpose yardage. That leaves Ballage an interesting fantasy play in an Oct. 29 matchup against Oregon, where he'll face off against a Duck defense currently ranked third-worst in the FBS.
